Stockfish Film and Industry Festival proudly announces its 11th edition, taking place from April 3rd to April 13th, 2025. Stockfish extends a warm invitation to all, offering pay what you want admission to this year's festivities. Shortfish (Sprettfiskur), Iceland’s leading short film competition, showcases new talent in narrative films, documentaries, experimental works, and music videos. Prizes are sponsored by KUKL Equipment Rental and RÚV. The prestigious Eva María Daniels Award grants 1.5 million ISK to a standout filmmaker to support their next project. Physical Cinema: Curated by Helena Jónsdóttir, Physical Cinema is a special Stockfish section dedicated to the intersection of dance, music, and film. The 2025 program includes a 70-minute artistic short film selection at Bíó Paradís, with one film selected to represent the festival at the Cannes Festival de Danse. Stockfish: Strengthening Iceland’s Film Industry Stockfish evolved from the Reykjavík Film Festival (1978-2001) and was relaunched in 2015. The festival operates with transparent, professional, and democratic principles and is overseen by a board representing Iceland’s leading film organizations, including FLH, IKS, FLI, and more. Led by Dögg Mósesdóttir and Halla Þórlaug Óskarsdóttir, Stockfish fosters creative exchange, connecting Icelandic and international filmmakers to inspire and collaborate.
