Korda Symphony gives a music workshop in Flói on the ground floor of Harpa for children, families and individuals of all ages. There are two hour long workshops, at 2-3 pm and 3:30-4:30 pm. Participants create music together that will be performed at an informal concert at the end of each workshop. Participants are welcome to bring their own instruments, but a background in music is not a requirement. Note: There will be limited technical support for the workshops, so we encourage people not to bring electric instruments unless they bring everything they need themselves. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to participate. No prior registration is required. -- Korda Symphony is without a doubt the most unusual orchestra in Iceland, bringing together active and highly educated musicians, students from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, self-taught musicians and people in various places undergoing rehabilitation after life-changing traumas and health problems. All voices are equal and the result is magnificent. Korda Symphony performs only original music, which is written by the members of the orchestra together. Korda Symphony performs annual concerts in Harpa, which always cause great excitement. Korda Symphony was nominated for the Icelandic Music Award for its debut concert in 2022 and received the Icelandic Music Award's 2023 incentive prize for using music and communicating it in a creative way to encourage people to become more active in society. Korda is a collaborative project between MetamorPhonics, the Iceland Academy of the Arts, the Reykjavík City of Music, Harpa and vocational rehabilitation centers across the country. The project is supported by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Employment of Iceland, together with the Reykjavík City of Music and the Music Fund.
