THE REYKJAVÍK WINTER LIGHTS FESTIVAL 2014 OPENS TONIGHT!

IT'S TIME TO LIGHT THE LIGHTS AT THE REYKJAVÍK WINTER LIGHTS FESTIVAL 2014!

The Winter Lights Festival will be opened officially at 7:30pm tonight by the Mayor of Reykjavík, Jón Gnarr, at the Einar Jónsson Museum. From this location ten stunning light installations, which appear at various locations around the city, will be ceremoniously switched on. In addition to the illuminations, this special opening event also promises an evening of sensational acts performed by a variety of talented artists.

The opening ceremony culminates with a big festival concert, premiering the brand new collaborative act Denver Calling. This thoroughly entertaining finish to the opening ceremony will be hosted at Iðnó Theatre on 6th February, 9pm.

Denver Calling is a cross-cultural event featuring top musicians from Denver, (Colorado, USA) and Iceland. These same musicians were introduced at last year’s critically acclaimmed Denver Calling Reykjavík concert, which was sucessfully received in Denver and quickly sold out. This COMPLEMENTARY event will see Icelandic musicians paired with those from Denver to perform fresh, original compositions. Icelandic musicians featured include: Högni Egilsson (Hjaltalín & Gus Gus), Lay Low and Snorri Helgason. And from Denver:Tyler Ludwick (Princess Music), Esmé Patterson (Paper Bird) and Jesse Elliott (Ark Life).

Prepare to be amazed by the dramatic interplay of darkness and light at the 2014 Winter Lights Festival!
