“Notte Bianca” is a very popular event in Italy: typically held during the summer season, it’s a moment of cultural gathering in city centers, which come alive with craft stalls, live music, street performances, and extended opening hours for shops, museums, and venues well into the night. Menningarnótt can be seen as the Icelandic equivalent of an Italian Notte Bianca, with the small difference that events and gatherings take place not only in the evening hours but throughout the entire day, turning downtown Reykjavík into an open-air cultural hub. For this reason, we decided to create our own small-scale event to gather all creatives based in Iceland who have a direct connection with Italy. The creatives exhibit a wide range of art works, and the public can join them to appreciate it.
