Historian Stefán Pálsson invites passersby to an entertaining journey through the history of lotteries – from ancient times to the present day – at 20:15. What would life be like for university students if the University of Iceland Lottery had never been founded? Join us for an open-air class on Reykjavík Culture Night – where the absence of a roof and walls serves as a reminder that for 85 years, ever since the inauguration of the university’s main building in 1940, the lottery has financed twenty-five university buildings, providing housing and shelter for students. The event is open to all and free of charge – we promise insight and enjoyment. You are warmly welcome!
