Welcome to a free family architecture walk on Thursday, 24 July at 18:00. Alma Sigurðardóttir, a specialist in building preservation, will lead a family-friendly guided tour around the Reykjavík Pond. Special emphasis will be placed on educating children. Alma is the author of the children’s book Our Buildings, which explores the trends and styles that characterize Icelandic architectural history—from turf houses to concrete buildings—in a simple and accessible way so that as many people as possible can learn about Icelandic architecture. The walk begins at the Reykjavík City Library in Grófin, Tryggvagata 15, and will be conducted in Icelandic. The walk lasts about 1.5 hours. This walk is part of the Evening Walks event series, organized by the Reykjavík City Museum, the Reykjavík City Library, the Reykjavík Art Museum, and Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature. The walks take place on Thursdays throughout the summer. All evening walks are free of charge and everyone is warmly welcome.
