On the occasion of Pink October, Kraftur will have a powerful women's gathering in Harpa on Thursday 21st of October between 17:00 and 19:30. The gathering is in Icelandic.

We get powerful women to share their experiences, where they draw their strengths from and how they have coped with challenges in their life; whether in work or personal life.

Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former President of Iceland and patron of the Cancer Society, sets the Women's Gathering

Speakers:

- Lára Guðrún Jóhönnudóttir, who is the representative of the Pink Ribbon 2021. Lára lost her mother to cancer when she was young and was later in life diagnosed with breast cancer herself. In recent years, she has been a strong advocate for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and has drawn attention to the issues that can be improved in that regard.
- G. Sigríður Ágústsdóttir, Sirrý, received the news 6 years ago that she had incurable cancer. To cope with her illness, she began to pursue outdoor activities. She launched the project Lífskraftur, which i.a. crossed the glacier Vatnajökull and hiked up the highest mountain in Iceland, Hvannadalshnjúkur with over 100 women to support Líf Styrktarfélag, Kraftur and the cancer ward of Landspítalinn.
- Anna Dröfn Sigurjónsdóttir, has spoken openly about her battle with breast cancer with the hashtag #látumdælunaganga on Instagram and on the Facebook page Föruneyti hringsins. Last year, she was diagnosed with metastases based on the breast cancer she has been dealing with and has attracted attention for her outlook on life and open discussion about cancer and the challenges that comes with it.
- Eliza Reid, First Lady and Entrepreneur, has undertaken various projects both in Iceland and abroad. She has faced numerous challenges both in her work and personal life. Eliza herself has said that she is not a decoration of the presidency but a woman with her own voice and opinions who wants to benefit society. Eliza's first book - Sprakkar - Kvenskörungar Íslands about powerful women and how they seek to change the world will be published on the 11 November.
- Ragnheiður Guðmundsdóttir will reead from her newly published book of poems - PTSD - poems with traumatic stress - but her poems were born when she was working her way out of the trauma after cancer. The book of poems will be for sale at the event and the profit from that sale will go to Kraftur.

At the end of the event there will be a discussion where women can ask these powerful women questions.

Moderators: Ingileif Friðriksdóttir and María Rut Kristinsdóttir, women activists in the fight for the rights of gay people.

Pink snacks will be available.

This will be a historic and amazing women's event. It is free of charge but there is limited seating, so it is important to register as soon as possible to secure a seat.
