The Philharmonic Choir of Iceland performs an Advent concert on November 27, the first Sunday in Advent, with vocalist Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir and harpist Elísabet Waage. The event will feature a range of Advent and Christmas music, both Icelandic and international, from various eras. The choir will perform a brand-new piece by composer Tryggva M. Baldvinsson, among other things. Magnús Ragnarsson is the choir's conductor. The Philharmonic Choir of Iceland is an 80-member mixed choir that has been active since 1960. It turned 60 last spring and had a great performance of Verdi's Requiem, which was praised by critics. The choir has participated in numerous projects over the years. In May 2022 the choir performed with the world-renowned singer Andrea Boccelli and month later the choir took part in a performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass in Salzburg, as well as participating in a choir competition, also in Salzburg, where it won.
