Hostels and Camping
Hostels
Hostels provide inexpensive accommodation for the traveller on a budget. No luxuries, but clean and comfortable facilities. And remember that “youth” hostels are not only for the young!
Camping
Reykjavik has one large central campsite, located adjacent to the outdoor thermal pool in Laugardalur. The campsite is open in the summer season, from mid-May to mid-September. The central location is convenient for access to all parts of the city.
Several more campsites are available in the Reykjavik Capital Area, in the surrounding towns of Kopavogur, Hafnarfjordur and Mosfellsbaer.
During the summer months, campsites are open all over the country, usually from late May to September. Campsites operate in all the National Parks.
Please note that camping outside designated campsites is prohibited.
