Culture Night 2017 – a Feast of Music and Culture

The biggest festival of Reykjavík, Culture Night will be held for the 22nd time on Saturday 19 August 2017.

The biggest festival of Reykjavík, Culture Night will be held for the 22nd time on Saturday 19 August 2017. This year Culture Night will be a huge feast of music and culture.
In the downtown area three major concerts are scheduled, along with more than 100 other music events all over the city. Admission is free to all the city centre museums and galleries – which offer a varied programme of events.

Actors, dancers and circus artistes appear in a range of performances, and Reykjavík residents offer events in gardens and alleys.

Hlemmur area is a focus of this year’s Culture Night, this has been a centre of rapid development in recent months, and it will host many interesting events.

On Culture Night, the town of Akranes, across the bay, will be Guest Town: a varied programme of events will be held at the restaurant Messinn at the Maritime Museum there .

Bus travel in Reykjavík will be free  on Culture Night, and the evening concludes with the traditional firework display at Austurbakki by the Old Harbour.
